Oh, NEWS.

Yamapi and Ryo have withdrawn from the group, which will continue as a four-member unit.

ETA: Although, okay. Leaving aside the kneejerk No! reaction I want to have, this might not be entirely terrible.

The lack of NEWS' activity has stemmed from the difficulties of scheduling, so. It won't be the same, but NEWS is proving to be a fairly resilient group in terms of member losses, so. I'll just look forward to seeing what the four of them create in the future. ♥

ETA II: Now I'm all nostalgic. ♥ Shipped Ryo and Shige even before I could even tell Shige and Tegoshi apart. XDDD I ship with a rational mind, you see.

I know. :\ I'm not happy about it, but there are bright sides to it, at least. They haven't disbanded entirely like I was worried might happen, and it will make the unit more balanced in terms of spotlight coverage.

But yeah. NEWS got me into JE. I'm going to be pretty bummed about this for a while. ♥

Yeah, I really think they're leaving because it's hurting all 6 of them to stay together. KAT-TUN proved that you can't really have a member try to make it as a solo artist and remain in the group. And it's always been insane for Ryo to be in NEWS and Kanjani8, especially now that K8 has gained so much popularity.

I saw this coming, but still, it's sad.

Yeah, I was just saying as much to fuyukoi. KAT-TUN's current state seems a lot–happier? And not that NEWS had the same dynamic as KAT-TUN, but it probably was a strain on the unit with Yamapi pursuing something on his own and Ryo constantly between groups. I'm just glad the four of them are staying together. ♥

And yeah, it wasn't surprising but, like you said, it's still sad.

Nah, I don't blame either of them for their choices. Ryo's earned the rest after juggling multiple projects for so long without complaint. And Yamapi's well within his rights to go after his dreams, just like Jin.

I'm still in the stage of initial grief and shock, but I understand the reasons behind this. You are right that NEWS has proven before that they can survive losing group members. I got into the group when they were 6 members and right now can't imagine them as 4, but we'll see.

i'm (sort of) past the sadness now. i'm just glad they haven't disbanded completely, and i'm really hoping that koyashige finally get the attention they deserve.

It's a chance to develop freely, though. Think of smaller trees that get more sunlight when a larger tree besides them disappears.
As long as they didn't make this decision with "bad blood" between the members, there's still plenty of opportunity to meet up again, just not as a fixed, permanent group.

I don't think there's bad blood, but there's definitely disappointment. That Koyama says they talked about it "many, many times" means they were trying to find a way to make it work. Ultimately, though, I think they'll all be cool with each other.

I think it'll take time to get used to. I'm not sure if it'd be better to wait or release right away, but I wouldn't be surprised if NEWS didn't release anything for a while. Give people time to adjust to the new dynamic, settle down from the upset of the change, etc.

I agree. It's pretty much certain they won't do anything before the Tegomass tour ends. I imagine early next year is the earliest to hear an announcement of some new unit work. I suspect Countdown this year is going to be extra awkward what with people & units all over the place and now this. :P

i think it depends on whether or not the company is willing to promote them well. which, um, they better be.
