I was going to wait until morning to rec this because it's late and I'm exhausted but I have Feelings for this fic and I can't not rec it immediately.

I have never read a more beautiful take on Alexander/Hephaistion, in either fic or published works. Mary Renault's novels are excellent, but there's something to the unrestrained devotion and equality between the two in this fic that appeals to me. Hephaistion is so often considered a distant second to Alexander, someone Alexander treasured based on physical traits alone, and that's irritated me ever since I was twelve years old when I started reading about them.

This fic shows Hephaistion as a near equal to Alexander, someone intelligent and capable and clever and loyal and kind. Someone you believe that one of the greatest generals and strategists in history would want to keep at his side.

This fic has incredible deftness to its writing that I can only hope to aspire to someday. Reading this was both humbling and inspiring and it made me desperately want to write. It's also got the kind of warmth that comes when you write from the heart.

I can't say enough about how much I love this fic, and I hope that – even if you don't know a thing about Alexander the Great or his second-in-command Hephaistion – you'll read this because it's beautiful and, I think, expertly done.

*I think that's what he says – I couldn't hear him well over HOST trying to make TAKKI explain his entirely normal birthday gift epic. "Wife" was definitely in there, though.

Next, they ask Takki what he likes about Tsubasa.


TAKKI: I like seeing you cry! :D

Yup. Also, he's claimed that one of his turn-ons is when women stand pigeon-toed. Just, you know, to give you some idea of scale here. He explains that sometimes at the end of concerts, Tsubasa will be so deeply moved that he'll cry (usually during/after "epilogue," since that's basically Their Song), so Takki likes the close feeling it gives them.

You know what, though? This isn't all that weird. Takki just likes that Tsubasa cares so much. So, really, how he said it is strange, but the sentiment is really sweet.

Good morning, lovely people! :D

After ten minutes of deliberation, I've decided to do Something Stupid. :D

I'm going to fill all of the Smut Meme prompts.

I figure since this is the first year in...maybe five years? that I won't be doing Yuletide, and with hols finished, I really don't have any writing obligations (other than fic for spurious for being my kind and diligent Fic Index Overlord and a ficlet for ohmiya_sg for subbing Things That Are of the Magic), it's not an entirely insane goal. Porn is fun to write, and I've always looked back on the first Smut Meme with a kind of, Aww, if I'd filled them all that would have been marvelous.

So I'm gonna do it for this one. :D

I'll leave prompting open for another twenty-four hours, and then whatever number I have tomorrow morning will be the number of fills I'll be aiming to finish. I'm not putting a deadline on this because exchanges gave me enough stress XD but I might probably have spurious and fuyukoi stabbing me in the face occasionally to finish it, so it'll get done.


On a separate note, Russia is preparing to pass a bill that would "make it illegal for any person to write a book, publish an article or speak in public about being gay, lesbian or transgender." I signed this petition nine hours ago when the number of signatures was 25,000~ and it's already reached 80,400~ as I'm typing this. Please not only sign this but spread the news, too. (And now that I've finished the post, it's at 81,500~.)
