Really Long Homestretch, GANTZ, and an Excerpt

1. So remember that homestretch thing? Never mind. I had 5,000~ words at the time and expected to clock in around 6,000~, except now I'm at 9,000~ and the fic's still probably only around two-thirds finished, so. Still on the homestretch, it's just...a very long homestretch. *sparkly thumbs up*


2. GANTZ 2! Here's the thing about GANTZ: I saw it for Nino. I knew nothing about the manga and I didn't read up much on the plot before I saw the movie (as a test to see how much I would understand of the Japanese). I was fully prepared for it to be terrible and to thoroughly enjoy myself anyway because, c'mon now: NINO KILLING STUFF WITH A BIG BITCHIN' ZAPPER GUN. So I figured since Nino is :D, GANTZ would be :D. Then I saw Matsuken and got even more :D. And then the story was exactly the kind of thing I love (group dynamics, delving into death, best friendship, etc.), and the rest of the cast was awesometastically memorable (HONGO KANATA–apparently he was Ryoma in TeniPuri which WOW I CAN SEE AND HOW DID I NOT RECOGNIZE HIM–when he died in 1 I was heartbroken and when he died in 2 I squeaked in outrage/anguish), and just generally ngk.

So, yep, I saw GANTZ 1 on my own back in January on a whim because of Nino and it ended up actually sinking pretty deep under my skin. When GANTZ 2 came out, I saw it on opening night with some friends and the freaking thing broke my heart about twelve times – KEIIIIII-CHAAAAAN :( WHERE IS NISHIIIIII :(( KATO :((((( KEIIIII-CHAAAAAN :((( OTAKU BOOOYYYYY :(((((( NIIIIISHIIIII :'(((((((( – and today I saw it again with another friend PURELY TO KEEP HER COMPANY OF COURSE :D and ngk again with the heartbreaking.

I loved it so much I bought the soundtrack and now I have 帰還 (the song playing when Kato's brought back) on loop. I didn't cry the first time I saw that scene because my friend was making me laugh by whispering, "Kiss him, kiss him, oh–cop. Out." I didn't cry tonight because...I have no idea. But now that I'm remembering the scene–KAAAATOOOO.

Is there fic? *____* Because I know what I'm requesting for Yuletide this year! :D ♥

God just. Ngk. Kato's tear on Kei's face. Kei's sacrifice. BUT IT CAN BE FIXED. SOMEHOW.

I love Matsuken's acting. Must see him in more. *___*

And just. Nino. I adore you, you wonderful little man. How do you wake up every morning and deal with the fact that you're you? ♥

This music is going to make me bawl. ... *listens anyway because is emotional masochist that way*


3. Beeeecause I missed Excerpt Monday:

Jin doesn't usually volunteer advice, but Ryo doesn't usually do...anything he's done in the last three weeks either, so Jin's probably allowed to have some personal growth, too.

"You should own it," Jin tells him. "Seriously. Fuck everyone." That part's in English. "I mean, it's not like you're actually gay."

"Bisexual," Ryo says under his breath.

"Yeah, or that," Jin says. "So just have fun with it."

Ryo almost says, "I don't know what I am," but he'll be damned if Jin's the first one he goes to for help with his existential bullshit.

Jin's already moved on, anyway. "I'll pay you to make out with Shige during a concert."

Ryo's okay enough to snicker.

Dude, right? The whole movie I was like, HairlipseyesneckbodyhowareyouarealpersonNinoreally.

AND KEI/KATO. Just. Y'know. Putting that out there.

(Except the part where it's Akame and once seen, it cannot be unseen. On the plus side, it's still outrageously cute.)
