Sooo I've given up on Kink Bingo. But hey! I got two out of five, which is one more than I got the last time I signed up for a SomethingSomething Bingo. Progress! XD

With Kink Bingo a Fail, right now the priority is hols. My goal is to finish it by Monday, edit it, and then send it in. I'd like to feel the surge of adrenaline that comes with finishing an exchange fic way before the deadline. Plus, I'm signing up for Yuletide in October, and I'd rather not juggle exchanges again. I don't have nearly the right amount of sanity left for that. XD

Several years ago, Mac returned to Eito with a story instead of the dinner he'd gone out to retrieve. After Jacky threw a fit and left to get the food himself, Mac told the rest of them about Nakamura Hiroaki, an eighty-four-year-old widower he'd met at the train station.

Nakamura had been stuck behind the ticket gates because he didn't have enough money on his card to get out, so Mac had stopped to help him. He'd tried to give the old guy some cash, but Nakamura just smiled and refused and refused and refused until his voice got hoarse and tears started to drip off his chin. Mac took out his own card and, ignoring all of Nakamura's embarrassed objections, sprung the old guy from the station and ushered him to a nearby bar. Once composed, Nakamura told Mac that his entire life savings had been stolen incrementally from numerous hiding places in his house over the last four days. All Nakamura had left was thirty-four yen tucked into his jacket's battered leather pocket.

Jacky returned at that point in the story with cup ramen, listened to the short version of the story, and they all agreed to take the case.

(sorry for the delay, WAS WRITING. :D)

I think I can sum things up as saying, from just this snippet I'm already very curious to know what the solution to the mystery is and how they solve it, and I don't even know anything about 8Uppers other than one of them is named after a soccer team.

Arsenal? XDDD Named for his guns, sadly. But I had the same thought when I looked at the character names.

Randomly, Maru's name is Gum. This will never not amuse me.

XDDD NOPE, BUT I TOTALLY THOUGHT ARSENAL WOULD BE HINA, TOO, WHEN I HEARD THE NAMES. IT TOOK A WHILE TO MAKE THE MENTAL SHIFT. ...PROBABLY FOR HINA, TOO.
